It's fun to be surprised, and today while venturing out in Charleston, I met that surprise, BLEND. Thinking that we were just stopping for a quick jolt of java in a corner store across from the MUSC, we met MEL, part-owner of this new establishment (6 months old). He gave us the grand tour and graciously showed us the upstairs restaurant. It's a good thing as the downstairs consists of sleek metal tables, some bad music, and a noisy refrigerator. I was ready to leave before ordering, but lucky me that I didn't because I have now discovered something worth discovering. Tastefully decorated, upstairs gives you the atmosphere desired for dining out. Check back to read my critique of the food; I intend to return soon to be able to sample the fare.
