Cooper Estates is one of the older neighborhoods of Mt. Pleasant offering mature trees and curved streets meandering around the edge of Shem Creek. Conveniently located between between Johnnie Dodds Blvd and Coleman Blvd, the neighborhood is in the heart of the Mt. Pleasant community with only minutes to downtown Charleston and the area beaches. There is a boat dock, picnic area, and boat ramp at Shem Creek making this a coveted established neighborhood. If you are one who doesn't like to have lots of 'rules and regulations' imposed by your neighborhood homeowners association, you might find the more relaxed approach here suitable for you with no regime, homeowners association dues, or covenants and restrictions. Residents of Cooper Estates may join the Cooper Estates Civic Club and boat landing membership for nominal fees to gain free access and use of Madere's Landing via an automatic gate, private boat ramp on beautiful Shem Creek, pier and floating dock, boat wash-down station, fish cleaning area, and the ability to make reservations of the covered shelter for private parties. Oyster roasts and direct access through Shem Creek to Charleston Harbor make this amenity very valuable. The shelter includes lighting, water, electricity, porta-potty, large open area for children and pets to run & play, swing set for the children, plenty of fishing, crabbing, and cast-netting from the floating dock.
