John’s Island is one of the largest coastal sea islands on the Eastern shore. One can arrive on John’s Island with a quick ten minute drive from downtown Charleston, but it is a large island taking thirty minutes at least to cross over to Wadmalaw or Kiawah Islands.
Two new bridges to John’s Island and an executive airport service encourage many Kiawah homeowners as well as newcomers to Johns Island. The new fixed span bridge crossing from James Island to Johns Island is also encouraging Charlestonians to look in this area. The tomato fields of this original farm center are quickly developing into rural suburban homes for Charlestonians, now that the roads are almost complete and the water flow from the city has been approved.

The area still is unspoiled bragging of its acreage of lush landscaping and gorgeous oak trees. This is the home of the famous “Angel Oak”, a tree of substance with an estimated age of 1400 years old, and there are many oak friends hanging about in the lovely neighborhoods of this island.
