Shadowmoss Plantation is an established neighborhood west of the Ashley, but the property still hasn't been built out all the way. One of the final single- family home stages was launched in the past year at the upscale 103-lot Middleborough Estates.
Homes are along Shadowmoss Parkway and side streets.
"This neighborhood is tucked back here," said Sandy Perry of Keller Williams Realty, who is handling sales and marketing for MB Builders. The Mount Pleasant-based company is constructing homes on interior and golf courses lots, such as a 3,500-square-foot house on Brogun Lane priced at $639,000, she said.
The home design includes vaulted ceilings, hardwood floors, separate tub and shower in the master bedroom, crown molding, gas fireplace, screened porch and an open kitchen with granite countertops and stainless steel appliances. The home is wired for audio. Outside, the landscaped yard has a sprinkler system.
Buyers, Perry said, include "a lot of people who are living in Shadowmoss and (want to) move up a step. This is the last community going in here in Shadowmoss."
Nearby, James Island-based Design Builders is raising four homes at Middleborough Estates. The business specializes in custom homes with special architectural details, said Bill Douglas, owner. Its houses include a 3,020-square-foot brick and fiber-cement sided dwelling on Shadowmoss Parkway with four bedrooms, three baths and a two-car garage.
Hardwood floors, ceramic tile in bathrooms and granite kitchen countertops are among the interior features; front and screened porches and exterior trim highlight the outside.
Douglas said the family-owned venture is building in Middleborough Estates because it is in an expanding area.
To reach Middleborough Estates, take Glenn McConnell Parkway, turning right on Bees Ferry Road. Turn left off Bees Ferry onto Shadowmoss Parkway. The homes are ahead less than a mile.
