The Town of Mount Pleasant has secured funding for and is in the process of designing a new flyover interchange that will connect the I-526 on/off ramp directly with Hungry Neck Blvd. (completion anticipated in 2009 or 2010). Thus, the new intersection will become the first traffic light in Mount Pleasant for cars traveling from I-526 and headed toward Towne Center or the Isle of Palms. The new intersection will also tie together other major roads, handling traffic flowing through the new Watermark project (connecting from Bowman Road) and the new "Central Mount Pleasant" project (connecting from Rifle Range Rd).
